Ergonomic Assessments

ERGONOMICS is the science of fitting the workplace (responsibilities, equipment and environment) to the worker.

Consultations are provided at the workplace for individuals or entire companies. Instructional programs can be made available for presentation on topics such as injury prevention, repetitive strain injury or back pain prevention.

The Ergonomic Evaluation

The consultant interviews the individual to:

  • Learn the responsibilities and requirements of the individual.
  • Understand the individual’s current, occasional or even rare symptoms.
  • Understand level of activity outside of work; at home, during exercise or hobbies.
  • Acknowledge any concerns the worker has about the worksite.

The Consultant Observes the Worker and Worksite for:

  • Positioning of the body as a whole, as well as each specific area for each task
  • How the individual uses the available equipment. (Measurements are made)

The Consultant Then Modifies the Work Site to fit the Individual:

  • Adjustment of equipment is made, where possible, to improve the fit of the equipment to the worker (e.g. chair adjusted to fit, keyboard and/or mouse position altered, etc.)
  • Instructions are provided for proper use of the currently available equipment.
  • Specific recommendations are made to improve or change the worksite by moving or repositioning equipment or where needed, adding or purchasing equipment.
